Kevin Bellis

Kevin is a litigator at Crease Harman LLP, and maintains a broad practice in civil litigation, employment law, and family law. He has appeared at all levels of court in British Columbia, including the British Columbia Court of Appeal. Kevin regularly appears in Supreme Court chambers, and has acted as lead counsel at trial in both the Provincial Court and the Supreme Court.

Kevin’s family law practice covers separation and divorce, the division of family property and family debt, spousal support and child support. He has acted in trials and contested applications involving the tracing of excluded property through the purchase and sale of real estate, claims for the reapportionment of excluded property, parenting time and guardianship, and on interim applications for exclusive occupancy of a family home, interim distributions, and litigation funding.

On the employment side, Kevin assists both employees and employers with wrongful dismissal and constructive dismissal claims, severance negotiations, and employment agreements.

Kevin also maintains an administrative law practice, and has achieved successful results for clients before a number of administrative tribunals including the Property Assessment Appeal Board, the Employment Standards Tribunal, the Residential Tenancy Branch, and the Workers Compensation Appeal Tribunal.

Recent Reported Decisions

S v. S., 2026 BCSC 1486 – obtained the dismissal of a Notice of Family Claim on a summary trial application with costs to the client where the Court held that the claim, advanced by the committee of his client’s spouse, had not established grounds for divorce.

Ulrich v. Ulrich, 2026 BCSC 808 (as co-counsel) – successfully opposed four interim applications, including for exclusive occupancy of the family home, and interim distributions of $150,000 for living expenses and $450,000 for litigation funding. The Court dismissed all of the applications with costs.

A.T.H v. W.D.G., 2025 BCSC 1302 – Established at an eight-day trial that $318,240 that his client contributed to the purchase of a family home retained its character as excluded property, defeating arguments that the exclusion was lost on the joint purchase and that the funds should be divided under s. 96 of the Family Law Act.

Seaspan ULC v. North Vancouver (District), 2022 BCCA 433 (as co-counsel) – Successfully resisted an appeal concerning the effect of a contaminated sites remediation order on the assessed value of a property in North Vancouver.

570 Dunsmuir Holdings Ltd. v. Eggleton, 2021 BCSC 1244 – Successfully obtained an order in a commercial dispute compelling a defendant to attend a further seven hours of examination for discovery and to answer questions the Court found had been improperly objected to.
