Recently, the Office of the Auditor General of British Columbia published a report of the Skills Immigration Stream of the B.C. Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
The table below shows the requirements for the BC PNP Skills Immigration Stream for the five categories: Entry Level and Semi-Skilled, Skilled Worker, Healthcare Professional, International Graduate, and International Post-Graduate.
*The Canadian government uses a standardized vocabulary and classification system for describing all occupations, called the National Occupational Classification, or NOC. About 30,000 job titles are sorted into 10 broad occupation categories and five skill levels. Relevant to the table above, Skill Level 0 is “Managerial,” Skill Level A is “Professional,” Skill Level B is “Skilled” and Skill Levels C and D are “semi- and low-skilled.”

The BC PNP allows British Columbia to select immigrants who can add to the labour market and economic development. B.C. then nominates these people to the federal government for permanent residency. In addition to being able to stay and work in Canada, permanent residency is a pathway for citizenship.
