Stan was born and raised in Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in 2001. He was a Ukrainian lawyer before coming to Canada, with a law degree from LvivNationalUniversity. While in Ukraine, Stan was predominantly involved in business and corporate work. Stan is fluent in English, Ukrainian and Russian.

Stan obtained his second law degree from UVIC in 2008 and completed his articles at Crease Harman LLP and was called to the B.C. Bar in May 2009. Since his call to the Bar, Stan practiced at Buckler Shaver LLP and Dinning Hunter Lambert & Jackson but after all, decided to return back to where he started — to Crease Harman LLP.

Awards

While at UVIC, Stan was part of a UVIC moot team that took part in a worldwide competition between the law schools in the area of commercial arbitration in Hong Kong, 2007/8. Stan had an opportunity to contribute to the legal research and drafting of the team’s submissions as a result of which, Stan’s team got the Fali Nariman Award for the Best Respondent’s Memorandum at the IV Annual Willem C. Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot, 2007/8.
