Professional Associations and Activities:

Bruce Hallsor is the past President of the Victoria Bar Association and a past national Chair of the Canadian bar Association section on Wills, Estates, and Trusts.  He has also been a Chair of the Victoria sections on Wills and Trusts and Administrative Law.  Bruce is an editor of the Canadian Bar Association's dial-a-law programme on Mortgages and Foreclosures, a contributor to the CBA’s National Wills and estates Legislation Concordance, and has written articles and made presentations on the subjects of property transfer tax, directors and officers liability, and income tax treatment of employee bonuses.  Bruce is a legal historian, who was on the organizing committee for the Court of Appeal’s centennial celebrations in Victoria in 2010.  Prior to being called to the Bar, Mr. Hallsor was a Research Director, Legislative Analyst, and a Ministerial Assistant in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia.

Community Activities:

Bruce Hallsor is honourary counsel to Scouts Canada in BC and the Yukon, and is a Beaver leader and former cub leader.  Bruce coaches youth soccer, and has been involved in many community charities as a board member or legal adviser.  Bruce Hallsor has been appointed by the Provincial Government to serve as a public representative on the College of Social Workers, and as a business representative on the Provincial Child Care Council.  He has been appointed by the City of Victoria to the Board of Variance, and by the District of Saanich to the Saanich Arts Advisory Committee and the Advisory Planning Committee.

Bruce has been involved in advocacy work as National Vice-President of Fair Vote Canada, and as co-chair of the yes side in two provincial referendums on electoral reform, and as a past member of the B.C. Chief Electoral Officer's Advisory Committee.  Bruce is also a past Chairman of the Victoria Branch of the Monarchist league of Canada, and has spoken extensively on the monarchy’s role in Canadian History.
